Collin McHugh Signs One-Year Deal With Rays
4 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays and pitcher Collin McHugh agreed to a one-year contract pending a physical. McHugh opted-out of the 2020 season as his elbow was not responding to offseason surgery as well as he'd hoped. Elbow injuries are always concerning, but if McHugh is back to full health he could be a sneaky-asset for the Rays. Tampa Bay is famously analytical with their pitching staff and a pitcher like McHugh with starting and relief experience will fit right in. The right-hander has had success starting including winning 19 games in 2015 for Houston. He also thrived in a relief role posting a 1.99 ERA in 72 1/3 relief innings in 2018. As of now, McHugh is not on the fantasy radar but if he hooks healthy in Spring Training he could be an asset in deeper fantasy leagues.
