4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers pitcher Corbin Burnes allowed one run on two hits and three walks during Saturday's 8-3 win over the Cubs. He had six strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision. The young right-hander pitched fairly well Saturday, but he struggled a bit with his control as he needed 75 pitches to records only 10 outs. Burnes had electric stuff last year but struggled with command and confidence, eventually seeing a sports psychologist in the offseason. Since reporting to camp in February, his stuff has been perhaps even better, touching the high-90's with his fastball while showing off a devastating low-90's cutter/slider. He's an intriguing pitcher to watch early, as he could really burst onto the scene with improved command. Burnes figures to receive a longer leash as he continues to get stretched out, but he will need to work on his control if he's to pitch later into games. His next start is scheduled for Friday versus the Cardinals.--James Stokke
