Corey Dickerson Smacks Three Hits in Wednesday Doubleheader
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates left fielder Corey Dickerson continued his strong start to 2018 by going 3-for-6 with a double, a walk and two runs scored against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. All of his hits came in Game 1 of the doubleheader, as he sat against a southpaw in Game 2. Dickerson only has one home run through his first 88 plate appearances, but he's finding plenty of other ways to contribute. His eight doubles are tied for third in baseball and his slash line sits at a healthy .317/.352/.476. Typically a high swing-and-miss hitter, he has also dropped his strikeout rate to 11.4 percent. Dickerson's free-swinging ways haven't changed, as his swing rate (58.9 percent) ranked second among all qualified hitters coming into Wednesday, but he's making contact well above his career average (80.7 percent versus 75.6 percent) when he takes the bat off his shoulders.
