4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Corey Kluber delivered his best outing of the season on Sunday in a 2-0 win over the Tigers. Kluber put together a vintage performance against Detroit, pitching eight shutout innings while allowing just two hits and a walk along with a season-high 10 strikeouts. The veteran hurler induced 20 whiffs, 13 of them coming on his changeup, as he showcased his best swing-and-miss stuff of the season. This was the type of outing the Yankees expected from Kluber, who improved to 2-2 with a 3.03 ERA and a 29:14 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He'll next take on a Nationals lineup that has posted the seventh-lowest strikeout rate in the majors.--Tim Capurso
