3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Corey Kluber (shoulder) threw off the mound for the first time since straining his right shoulder. Kluber was able to throw 20 pitches, all fastballs. The veteran right-hander didn't offer a timeline but told reporters that he's confident he'll pitch again this season. General manager Brian Cashman offered September as a potential month for Kluber's return- and the former Cleveland pitcher seems poised to at least meet that deadline, given Friday's good news. Kluber pitched to a 4-3 record with a 3.04 ERA and 25 percent strikeout rate in 53 1/3 innings for New York in 2021. He remains a solid injury stash for fantasy managers who can afford to hold onto him, though he'll only really be able to provide a month of starts at this point.--Tim Capurso
