Corey Knebel Blows Save, Takes Loss Tuesday
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies closer Corey Knebel blew his fourth save of the season and took the loss in Tuesday's 11-9 loss to the Marlins. Knebel entered the game to pitch the ninth inning with a one-run lead. The first hitter reached first on a fielding error and Knebel allowed back-to-back walks to load the bases. He then allowed an RBI single to tie the game before being removed without recording an out. Two more of his responsible runners ended up scoring, making him the losing pitcher of record. Knebel has been shaky throughout the season and now has a 2-5 record with 11 of 15 save opportunities converted, a 3.24 ERA, and a 5.76 BB/9 rate. Fantasy managers may want to consider hunting for other closing options at this time, as the Phillies may do the same if he continues to pitch as he has.
