6 years agoNew York Mets pitcher Corey Oswalt got the call for a spot start in the second game of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, and he certainly did what he could despite taking the loss. Oswalt picked up the quality start by pitching six innings, allowing three earned runs on one hit and three walks while striking out seven in the 3-1 defeat. Allowing three runs on one hit total is a tough break; especially when that lone hit was a double from the opposing pitcher (Aaron Nola). It was Oswalt’s third start of the year for the Amazins’, and he owns a 6.75 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 17.1 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts 6 walks. He’s not much of a fantasy option, but it was good to see him pitch a solid outing on Monday nonetheless.--John Smith
