Cowboys, Dalton Schultz Not Expected To Reach Agreement
2 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys and franchise-tagged tight end Dalton Schultz are not expected to reach an agreement on a long-term contract extension before Friday's deadline for franchise players, according to sources. If a deal isn't reached, Schultz will play the 2022 season on the $10.9 million franchise tag for tight ends and become a free agent next March. The 26-year-old sat out of organized team activities before showing up to mandatory minicamp, and he's not expected to hold out of training camp this summer. He set career-highs across the board in 2021 with 78 receptions on 104 targets for 808 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 regular season games. Schultz's fantasy stock is on the rise, and he should be considered a mid-range TE1 heading into fall fantasy drafts.
