2 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys and franchise-tagged tight end Dalton Schultz are not expected to reach an agreement on a long-term contract extension before Friday's deadline for franchise players, according to sources. If a deal isn't reached, Schultz will play the 2022 season on the $10.9 million franchise tag for tight ends and become a free agent next March. The 26-year-old sat out of organized team activities before showing up to mandatory minicamp, and he's not expected to hold out of training camp this summer. He set career-highs across the board in 2021 with 78 receptions on 104 targets for 808 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 regular season games.
