4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs elected to give reliever Craig Kimbrel another save opportunity on Wednesday and he delivered in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Kimbrel had good command and was throwing gas to the Cardinals lineup. He struck out the first two batters before hitting Tommy Edman and ended the game by striking out Kolten Wong. Kimbrel got off to an atrocious start to the season, but he has now thrown three scoreless innings in his last three outings. Manager David Ross never publicly demoted Kimbrel from the closer, but Rowan Wick has received the bulk of save opportunities with four and Jeremy Jeffress has picked up two saves. It’s a good sign to see Kimbrel look like his old self and only one can wonder if he has earned his role back. For now, Kimbrel and Wick seem the most likely to get saves for the Cubs and owners chasing saves should consider both until the bullpen irons itself out.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
