7 years agoCarrie Muskat of MLB.com reports that the Chicago Cubs are still willing to bring back free-agent starting pitcher Jake Arrieta. President of baseball operations Theo Epstein said on Friday that "we've never ruled anything out with him." Arrieta remains the top pitcher available along with free-agent starter Yu Darvish, who the Cubs have also shown interest in. Arrieta, who is 32, has spent the past four and a half years with the club and would be welcomed back with open arms by the Cubs clubhouse. The issue could be years and not money in terms of bringing Arrieta back, as he's seeking both a long-term deal and much-deserved pay raise. Arrieta has also been linked to the Cardinals and Phillies. The Cubs have been linked to Darvish and Alex Cobb as well as Pirates starting pitcher Gerrit Cole.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
