Cubs Will Option Nico Hoerner
4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs will option second baseman second baseman Nico Hoerner to Triple-A according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com. This comes as a bit of a surprise with Hoerner hitting .361 this spring to go along with one home run, six RBI and three stolen bases. Hoerner also provides the best option defensively for the Cubs. Hoerner owns a career .247 batting average to go along with three home runs, 30 RBI and three stolen bases since his debut in 2019 and it shouldn't be long before he is back with the big league club. In the meantime, the Cubs will go with a platoon of David Bote, Eric Sogard and Ildemaro Vargas to start the season at second base. Bote offers the most potential of that crew, but can be avoided in all formats for now. Hoerner is a name for dynasty managers to keep an eye on for now.
