3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Dakota Hudson (elbow) could return to the Cardinals before the end of the season in some capacity, according to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News Democrat. General manager John Mozeliak said that Hudson has made significant strides in his rehab, adding that he looked good in a bullpen session last week. Mozeliak said that if asked a month ago, he would have said that Hudson was unlikely to return this season, but now it looks like Hudson could begin a rehab assignment sometime next week. Hudson is recovering from Tommy John surgery he underwent last year, and in eight starts last year prior to surgery he went 3-2 with a 2.77 ERA, 1.000 WHIP and 20.5 percent strikeout rate across 39 innings of work. If he does return, he could be an interesting guy to pick up in deep formats for a potential boost in the playoffs, but for the majority of managers he can be ignored until 2022.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
