Dameon Pierce Could Be Lead Back In Week 1
2 years agoThe Houston Chronicle's Jonathan M. Alexander reports that it's looking more likely that Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce could be the team's lead back in Week 1. Pierce continues to show in training camp that he can be an all-around back, and it's bad news for both Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead. The 22-year-old had five carries for 49 yards in the preseason opener, but he was held out of the second preseason game. Even if Mack opens the regular season as Houston's primary back, Pierce is the overwhelming favorite to be the Texans' starting running back at some point in 2022. Houston isn't the most attractive team for fantasy relevant players, but Pierce will be worth a look as an RB3/flex in his first NFL season.
