Dameon Pierce Needs To Work On Pass Protection
2 years agoHouston Texans running back Dameon Pierce turned in a quiet NFL debut, seeing just 12 touches compared to Rex Burkhead's 19 in a 20-20 tie with the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. Head coach Lovie Smith told reporters on Monday that Pierce still needs to get better at pass protection and pass-catching skills. Smith stated, "There's some things we're going to work on so that situation doesn't happen again." Many fantasy gamers drafted Pierce hoping he would be the clear No. 1 running back in Houston but it appears that this backfield will be more of an even split between the rookie and Burkhead. That being said, Pierce could gain a larger share of the role as the season goes on and he gets more NFL experience. For that reason, Pierce remains a hold in all leagues.
