Daniel Bard Locks Up The Save On Saturday
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard buttoned up the save on Saturday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and two strikeouts, in a 7-6 win over the Diamondbacks. Bard got the job done despite allowing a leadoff double to David Peralta. He was able to punch out two of the next three batters he faced and preserve the one-run win for the Rockies. The 35-year-old is 5-for-8 on save chances this year and has an ugly 5.82 ERA, 1.82 WHIP, and 21:8 K/BB ratio over 17 innings. No one else in the Rockies' bullpen has asserted themselves, though, so Bard should continue to get the lion's share of save opportunities.
