4 years agoColorado Rockies right-handed pitcher Daniel Bard picked up a save on Thursday when he struck out one over 2/3 of an inning in a 7-3 win over the Diamondbacks. This was a 7-0 ball game heading into the ninth inning before Carlos Estevez kept the door open for the D-backs. He allowed a double, a home run, and a pair of walks while only recording one out, which prompted Bud Black to send in Bard to finish off the game. He only recorded two outs, one of which was a strikeout, but because there were two runners aboard it was technically a save situation. The 35-year-old virtually has no competition as the closer for the Rockies and is a perfect 2-for-2 on save opportunities this season. He's worth rostering everywhere for as long as the job is his.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
