4 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard pitched a scoreless inning on Friday vs. the Milwaukee Brewers. He had one strikeout and one walk over his inning of work. Bard won the NL Comeback Player of the year award in 2020 after returning to the majors after a seven-year absence. He finished the season with a 3.65 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 27:10 K/BB ratio, and six saves over 24 2/3 innings. He's the favorite to open the year as Colorado's closer and Friday's game should only strengthen his hold on the job. Fellow relievers Mychal Givens and Carlos Estévez gave up three runs and six runs, respectively on Friday. Reliever Scott Oberg, who missed all of last season due to blood clots, and who has yet to pitch this spring, will likely open the year as the set up man to Bard. The aforementioned Givens and Estévez will likely work long relief. This is still a situation worth keeping an eye on as the season approaches but the job appears to be Bard's to lose, as of now, which makes him the Rockies' reliever to own in fantasy leagues.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
