4 years agoOakland Athletics right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden was placed on the injured list Thursday due to a positive COVID-19 test, which paves the way for left-handed pitcher Mike Minor to join the active roster. Mengden has been utilized primarily as a long reliever this season after making one start in July; all told, he has produced a 3.65 ERA across 12 ⅓ frames with 10 strikeouts to his credit. Spots on the A’s staff are presumably up for grabs with Minor entering the fray, while No. 3 prospect A.J. Puk nears a return within the next week. Mengden holds little season-long fantasy intrigue at this stage, with Oakland set to return to play Friday.--Jesse Borek
