7 years agoWashington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy (knee) seems ready to return in all but one aspect of his game -- he can't run. Murphy was seen taking batting practice and fielding ground balls before Tuesday's game, but the workout was abruptly cut short when he attempted to run the bases. He admitted to Washington Post reporter Chelsea Janes that he has pain in his knee, which pushes back his return even more. He's been on the mend since getting microfracture surgery in the offseason and has been slow to recover. He's among the league's best hitters but frequently injures the lower half of his body. This is a frustrating development for his owners, but sets up a midseason rebound that could give owners a playoff push. Leverage this setback to pick up Murphy cheaply.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
