Daniel Norris Takes Lumps In Spring Debut
7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Daniel Norris made his spring debut against a Yankees lineup that was at full strength with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gary Sanchez sitting in the heart of the order. Norris is fighting for a rotation spot this spring, but his chances took a blow Wednesday. Norris struck out Judge, then worked Stanton to an 0-2 count before allowing a bloop single, which was followed up with a towering bomb from Sanchez. Norris was bothered by a groin injury for a good chunk of 2017, but said it was not an issue in Wednesday's contest. Other than Michael Fulmer, no Tigers starter has a rotation spot on lock, so it will be interesting to see what develops in the next few weeks.
