6 years agoAfter St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (hamstring) landed on the injured list earlier this week, the Cardinals announced that Daniel Poncedeleon will take his spot in the rotation for the time being. His first test will come Friday night in New York to take on the Mets in a decent streaming matchup. In one spot start this season, Poncedeleon gave up one run through five frames, striking out seven in a no-decision against the Brewers. In 11 starts at Triple-A, the right-hander holds a 3.90 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. It's nothing breathtaking, but he's shown flashes of excellence at the big league level already. Poncedeleon's stay in the rotation may just be for this one start, but he could provide sneaky value as a streamer in this matchup against a below-average Mets team.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
