Danny Gray Catches Two Passes For 24 Yards, Drops One
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers receiver Danny Gray was targeted four times but only caught two passes for 24 yards in the Niners' 17-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the second preseason game. The 23-year-old also converted a two-point conversion. It was an up-and-down game for him as he dropped a pass during the fourth quarter. The third-round pick only took three snaps with the starters but stayed in the contest for most of the game. Brad Purdy and Nate Sudfield were the team's top two quarterbacks on Saturday, with starter Trey Lance inactive. The lack of strong-armed Lance at quarterback, who hit him for a touchdown in the first preseason game, did not help Gray. He frequently ran deep routes but was only targeted once downfield, a pass from Purdy over 30 yards in the air that he caught out of bounds in the end zone. Gray will look to build on Saturday's performance in the team's final preseason game next Thursday against the Houston Texans.
