6 years agoToronto Blue Jays prospect Danny Jansen is making his MLB debut on Monday night behind the plate. Jansen is the third-ranked prospect in the Blue Jays system and he will bat ninth against Kansas City Royals starter Brad Keller. Jansen has had a solid season in Triple-A so far this year. The 23-year-old catcher culminated a .275 average across 360 plate appearances with 12 home runs and 58 RBI. In the short-term, Jansen may see a bit more time behind the plate due to Yangervis Solarte's injury. Russell Martin will most likely fill in at some of the infield positions which means catcher duties will be split between Jansen and Luke Maile. Regardless, Jansen is most likely not a viable fantasy option at this point for those managers in shallow redraft leagues. With that in mind, he should be owned in deeper dynasty leagues as he has the potential to be an above-average MLB hitter. He should be a semi-regular player for the Blue Jays next season that offers managers a high OBP with the occasional RBI. Likewise, offense from the catcher position is always valuable in fantasy leagues and Jansen should see some opportunities to deliver in the coming weeks.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
