Danny Jansen Retreats To The Bench Friday
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It will be the second straight day that Jansen will begin on the bench for Toronto. He hit just .213 (10-for-47) with two home runs, nine RBI, seven runs scored and 11 strikeouts in 15 games in the month of August. Overall, the 27-year-old backstop is slashing .219/.293/.474 with 11 home runs, 30 RBI and 21 runs scored for the Blue Jays in 157 plate appearances and 45 games this year. Alejandro Kirk is doing the catching against Pittsburgh and will hit cleanup against Pirates right-hander Johan Oviedo on Friday. Kirk has been much more effective for fantasy managers than Jansen, as he's hitting .296/.380/.443 with an .823 OPS, 13 long balls, 51 RBI and 52 runs scored in 379 at-bats.
