Danny Jansen Will Likely Platoon With Reese McGuire In 2020

4 years agoToronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo indicated on Thursday that he foresees a 60/40 split between catchers Danny Jansen and Reese McGuire this season. Jansen would be on the favorable side of the platoon despite the right-handed bat, but Montoyo wants both players to know the pitching staff well so he can play matchups during the season. A popular late-round target in 2019, Jansen disappointed owners with a .207/.279/.360 slash line and 13 homers in 107 games last season, but he's worked hard this offseason regaining the swing that netted him a .285 career BA in Triple-A. He has a higher upside bat than McGuire, but he better serves as a two-catcher league option.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
