7 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles designated third baseman Danny Valencia for assignment on Friday and recalled outfielder Cedric Mullins from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Valencia was hitting .263 with nine long balls and 28 RBI in 78 games for the O's. He can be useful against left-handers as a veteran presence off the bat. Mullins is ranked as the team's No. 9 prospect and was batting .288/.346/.465 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 108 games with Norfolk and Double-A Bowie this year. He could certainly see enough playing time for the last-place Orioles and is worth monitoring in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
