5 years agoIn the midst of a breakout campaign, former number-one overall draft pick Dansby Swanson was placed on the injured list on Saturday with a right foot contusion, retroactive to July 24. Swanson had already missed the Braves prior two games, initially hurting his foot when he banged it on a bag while running the bases Tuesday night in a loss against the Royals. The move comes as a surprise, as the injury was thought to be a minor hindrance that would require only a few days of rest. But enough pain apparently remained and now Swanson won't be eligible to return until August 2. Until then, expect Johan Camargo and Charlie Culberson to fill in at shortstop for Atlanta.--Nicklaus Gaut - RotoBaller
