4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitchers Daulton Jefferies and A.J. Puk are not on the Opening Day roster for Oakland after being optioned, according to Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News. Rubin adds that these moves likely mean Cole Irvin will be the fifth starter for the Athletics. Jefferies put up good numbers this spring, with a 1.50 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 18 innings of work, while Puk showed some struggles with five runs allowed in 7 2/3 innings, but did manage to strike out eight. Irvin also looked good this spring, allowing just two runs in 18 innings while striking out 18. Irvin will be a decent streaming option or DFS play going forward, and managers should expect Jefferies and Puk to both show up back in Oakland before too long.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
