David Fletcher Anticipates Return Saturday
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels infielder David Fletcher said Friday that his left ankle is much improved and that he anticipates returning to the starting lineup Saturday. Fletcher last played Aug. 30, which was when he sprained his ankle, paving the way for Luis Rengifo to see considerable time at second base. With Andrelton Simmons back in the mix at short, the Angels are likely to maneuver Fletcher around the infield due to the 45 hits that he has collected in 35 games. While he doesn’t hit for much power, the .438 SLG that Fletcher has delivered this season would be a career-best and is more than adequate to merit consideration in any season-long format.
