6 years agoCincinnati Reds reliever David Hernandez picked up the save in his team's 5-3 season-opening win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Hernandez pitched a third of an inning, issuing one walk in the process. He was able to end the game on a groundout off the bat of Corey Dickerson. While Hernandez earned the first save of the season, it came mostly because Cincy used Raisel Iglesias earlier in the game. Look for Iglesias, not Hernandez, to see the majority of the save chances for the team going forward, although there is a possibility that new manager David Bell deploys a committee in the ninth inning this season.--Matt T - RotoBaller
