4 years agoNew York Mets manager Luis Rojas stated on Friday that starting pitcher David Peterson is "pretty much" in the Mets' starting rotation. Peterson had been in a competition with Joey Lucchesi for the fifth rotation spot during spring training. However, with the injury to Carlos Carrasco (hamstring), Peterson appears to be earmarked for the fourth rotation spot in Queens behind Taijuan Walker. Peterson is coming off of a solid 2020 rookie campaign in which he posted a 3.44 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and a 40:24 K:BB in 49 2/3 innings pitched over nine starts. Managers should, however, be aware that the Mets could eventually place Peterson in a timeshare with Lucchesi to limit his innings when Noah Syndergaard (elbow) and Carrasco return from the injured list. As such, this could serve to cap Peterson's fantasy value later in the season.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
