3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson went 4 2/3 innings in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday against the Nationals, allowing just one earned run and striking out six. The Mets won 5-1, but Peterson did not factor into the decision. Peterson has now allowed just one earned run over his last two starts (10 2/3 innings pitched) while striking out nine batters. Immediately prior to these two most recent starts, Peterson had allowed 15 earned runs, 21 hits, and eight walks in 13 2/3 IP over four starts. Despite these last two starts, Peterson has been extremely inconsistent in 2021, making him nothing more than a dart-throw streaming option that can blow up at any time. He is best left on the waiver wire in all but the deepest of fantasy formats right now. Should he continue to string together a few more quality starts, he may gain fantasy relevance in more shallow formats.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
