Dede Westbrook Comes Up Short On Fourth Down In Defeat
7 years agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Dede Westbrook caught only one pass for 29 yards in the Jaguars 24-20 loss late to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. But what Jaguars fans will remember more is the tipped pass from quarterback Blake Bortles, intended for Westbrook, on fourth down to end a possible game-winning drive. Westbrook saw only three targets in the game, but he will look back on his rookie season fondly. He shined in the preseason, but it took until midseason to get his chance. He put up 339 yards in seven regular season games and should see an increase in opportunities next season. There are some free agents at wide receiver for Jacksonville, so Westbrook's projected role next season won't take shape for a few months.
