Deebo Samuel Not Reporting To Offseason Program
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is not expected to participate in the team's voluntary offseason workouts opening on Tuesday. Samuel's highly publicized contract situation remains unknown despite the front office giving every intention to extend him with a long-term deal. In a market where Christian Kirk received a deal worth $72 million and stars Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill broke the bank with new teams, Samuel certainly has the credentials to warrant a massive contract. However, his dual usage as both a receiver and a rusher makes him a bit complicated to properly value. It also certainly does not help the 49ers salary cap flexibility when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo remains on the roster and defensive end Nick Bosa is also entering the final year of his rookie deal. The 26-year-old Samuel was a fantasy cheat code last year, recording 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns through the air while adding 59 carries for 365 yards and eight scores on the ground.
