Deebo Samuel Plays Limited Snaps, Unable To Catch Only Target
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel could not haul in his only target in Thursday's 17-0 loss to the Houston Texas in the preseason finale. He started Thursday's contest but was only targeted once and ended the preseason with no catches. The 49ers rested Samuel and fellow starting WR Brandon Aiyuk in the first two weeks of the preseason. The rushing-receiving dual threat threatened to hold out earlier this off-season before he was given a new three-year, $71.5 million deal. While it was rumored that Samuel was displeased with his role as a wide-back, he said, "I don't mind doing whatever it takes for this team to win." He took no carries Thursday night, but the new contract includes $650,000 worth of incentives if he rushes for over 379 yards this season. Fantasy managers should target Samuel as a WR1 with his dual role in upcoming drafts. Rotoballer is on board with this assessment, ranking him eighth in the latest wide receiver rankings.
