Deivi Garcia To Start ALDS Game 2

4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Deivi Garcia will start against the Rays on Tuesday, with starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka to follow on Wednesday. Garcia finished the regular season with a lackluster 4.98 ERA over six starts, inflated by 10 runs allowed over his last 9.2 innings. Garcia has yet to face the Rays, but Tampa Bay is a decent matchup for the rookie pitcher. Garcia threw his fastball just under 60% of the time during the regular season, and the Tampa Bay batters ranked 28th in baseball with a .318 xwOBA against fastballs this season. That’s enough to warrant DFS consideration for Garcia, but the 21-year-old’s uneven regular season performance keeps him far from must-start status.--Sam Chinitz
