Delino DeShields to Start in Center Field
7 years agoAs expected entering spring training, outfielder Delino DeShields has won the Texas Rangers starting center field role to start the 2018 season. What is a little more interesting is that the 25-year-old speedster has also been plugged in as the lineup's leadoff hitter. DeShields was previously identified as a solid sleeper option late in drafts, and his stock has risen steadily during the offseason. He is currently being drafted on average with the 206th pick, which considering his speed and hitting approach, could still be a value. Monitor him closely on draft day, but despite the news, be wary of pulling the trigger too early.
