Dellin Betances Hit Hard In Rehab Outing
4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Dellin Betances (shoulder) allowed five runs on Wednesday for Single-A St. Lucie. Betances walked two, allowed three hits and recorded only one out in his appearance. Betances has appeared in only one game this season on April 7 and has been sidelined since with a right shoulder impingement. The oft-injured Betances has shown a decline in velocity over the past two seasons, including this past spring training. Betances, coming off a late-season lat injury in 2020 and shoulder and Achilles injuries in 2019, has not been healthy since joining the Mets prior to last season. Despite potentially nearing a return to the team, one has to wonder what contribution, if any, he will provide to the Mets the rest of the way. Betances should be left on fantasy waiver wires.
