Denver Eyes Complementary Back Alongside Javonte Williams
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Javonte Williams is set to take on lead-back duties entering 2022 following the departure of Melvin Gordon III. But just what being RB1 for Denver means varies by the beholder. Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said via Jeff Legwold of ESPN, "You want to make sure you can split it as much as you can ... a lot of the places that I've been, there's always been kind of two guys because you always want to try to split the load as much as you can. At the same time, [Williams is] a great player. We'll just have to see how the whole thing goes." Williams compiled 903 rushing yards and four scores across 17 games in his rookie campaign. While many fantasy managers have dreams of a 1,200-yard campaign or higher, some of those expectations may have to be tempered, depending on what the team's backfield looks like come Week 1.
