7 years agoThere is concern that Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will not be able to put up with Jon Gruden's coaching style for long, according to a league source. While it's not yet official, current ESPN analyst Gruden is expected to be the next head coach of the Raiders after they fired Jack Del Rio following the regular season finale. “Jon Gruden is not easy to deal with,” Pro Football Talk Live co-host Chris Simms said by phone on Thursday. “He’s in your face, he’s blunt, he’s extremely honest. At the same time, he’ll be extra hard on a quarterback if he knows the kid has talent.” Carr regressed in 2017, throwing for 3,496 yards (62.7 completion percentage) with 22 touchdowns and a career-high 13 interceptions in 15 games. While Gruden will work with Carr, Carr may not like what he has to say about his performance last season. Time will tell if Gruden can help Carr move past his 2017 disappointment, but either way, fantasy owners should certainly be skeptical of drafting Carr next year as a QB1.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
