7 years agoOakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (back) said the three transverse process fractures he suffered in his back in Week 4 against the Broncos affected him throughout the season. He was originally expected to miss two to four weeks, but Carr ended up only missing one game. “I had to deal with it,” Carr said. “I had to do certain things to manage it, but I just didn’t talk about it. I didn’t want it to be an excuse. It was a want more than anything else. I didn’t want it to be a reason. I couldn’t let that be a reason why I couldn’t do A, B or C.” After a promising 2016 season, Carr took a huge step back in 2017, but his back injury likely didn't help matters. With new head coach Jon Gruden now in town, there will be high hopes that Carr can return to his 2016 form. With full health, there's a good chance that happens, but fantasy owners probably aren't taking any chances on him as anything more than a low-end QB1.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
