Derek Fisher Off To Slow Spring Start
7 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Derek Fisher is off to a tepid start in spring training, posting only four hits in his first 20 March at-bats. Fisher came to camp as the favorite to earn the starting job in left field, but that could be short-lived if he starts slow out of the gate. Of course, this is only a small sample size, but Fisher will have to produce at some point to give the coaching staff confidence he can handle the everyday job. Super-utility player Marwin Gonzalez could easily steal some early starts in left field and prospect Kyle Tucker is enjoying a strong start to the preseason. There is plenty of time to right the ship, but this could hurt Fisher's fantasy value to begin the season if he continues to struggle.
