DeSean Jackson to Work Out of Slot in 2018
6 years agoIt is being reported that Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been working primarily out of the slot during training camp. Jackson had himself a rough 2017 season that featured the lowest yards per reception of his career. This could be attributed to the change in scenery to a team like Tampa Bay that lacked firepower, or the fact that he is now a wide receiver over 30. It wouldn't be surprising to see someone of Jackson's caliber steadily decline going forward given that his skill is predicated on his speed, however, this shift to the slot may be beneficial. Jackson will get the luxury of facing cornerbacks that are typically less physical than those on the outside. His draft stock will weigh heavily on how he fares in the preseason.
