6 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Detrez Newsome ran 12 times for 34 yards and a touchdown in the team's preseason loss over the weekend against the New Orleans Saints. He was the team's only bright spot in an otherwise dreary offensive performance, and it is starting to look like Newsome is the clear-cut No. 3 tailback behind Melvin Gordon and second-year man Austin Ekeler. The latter pounded out 50 yards on five carries while snagging three balls for 13 yards on his three targets. Gordon is an obvious RB1, and that's not a question. Ekeler should be treated as a low-end RB4 in standard formats, with a little extra value in PPR. Newsome is more of a RB6 in fantasy leagues with plenty of roster flexibility.--Daniel Dobish
