Detroit Opts To Not Franchise Tag Kenny Golladay
4 years agoWide receiver Kenny Golladay is heading to free agency after the decision by the Detroit Lions to not place the franchise tag on their former star wideout. Golladay spent the vast majority of 2020 on the sidelines due to a persistent hip injury. After having led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in 2019, Golladay was limited to just five appearances last year, in which he amassed 20 receptions for 338 yards and two scores. The Lions figure to have a new-look offense come '21 with Jared Goff set to take over the reins under center following the blockbuster deal that sent Matthew Stafford to the Rams. Golladay's market is immediately unclear, but teams with ample cap space figure to be aggressive in pursuit, especially after Chris Godwin and Allen Robinson were both franchise tagged, thinning the top-tier WR market considerably.
