Devin Asiasi Goes To Patriots In Third Round
5 years agoThe New England Patriots have selected UCLA tight end Devin Asiasi with the No. 91 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Asiasi made a name for himself during his final season at UCLA. He hauled in 44 receptions for 641 receiving yards and four touchdowns through 12 games in 2019. He has great size and speed, but won't help much as a blocker. The Patriots don't have much talent at tight end ever since Rob Gronkowski retired and was then traded to Tampa Bay, so Asiasi might be able to make some noise right away as a pass-catcher. He fits in the Pats system well, so we'll see how head coach Bill Belichick decides to use him. It's still unlikely that Asiasi develops into a fantasy relevant weapon in his rookie season, though, especially with the questions under center in New England in the post-Tom Brady era.
