2 years agoDetroit Lions tight end Devin Funchess hauled in all four of his targets during Friday's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons. He finished with 19 yards and was also on the receiving end of Detroit's lone passing touchdown. Funchess hasn't played a regular-season snap since Week 1 of the 2019 season, but he has converted from wide receiver to tight end and remains persistent in his attempt to secure a roster spot. With the Lions committing roster spots to T.J. Hockenson and a blocking tight end, Funchess is vying for the third and final tight end role in Detroit's offense. He doesn't possess the youth that James Mitchell does, but he still has a chance to sneak onto the roster with a strong preseason showing.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
