6 years agoIf we told you before the season that New York Mets and former Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco would have a productive 2018, you’d have reasonably said such a thought was wishful thinking. That may not have happened as a Red, but since being traded to Queens, his bat has awoken with some consistent playing time. Mesoraco’s resurgence continued with a double against the Miami Marlins on Monday, his third two-bagger of the season. Since being traded to the Mets, Mesoraco has hit three home runs, scored eight runs and driven in five with a .933 OPS across 30 plate appearances and eight games played. Mesoraco may not return to the player he was in 2014, but at the catcher position, he’s likely to be one of the most added backstops with his recent run of success.--John Smith
