6 years agoNew York Mets catcher Devin Mesoraco was essentially (and reasonably) left for dead at the start of 2018, placing second on the Cincinnati Reds depth chart at backstop. Since getting traded to the Amazins, however, Mesoraco has been a new man. He continues to give the Mets more production at catcher than they’ve had in some time, and he kept on going Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the 5-0 win. The two-bagger was his fourth of the season. Since being traded to the Mets, his averages don’t all scream superstar (.200/.300/.514), but in 40 plate appearances he has three home runs, two doubles, eight runs scored, and six RBI. At the catcher position, that is absolutely production that should be taken advantage of. He’s a must-own in two catcher leagues, and since the trade, he’s been producing anywhere from roughly the fifth to the 13th overall catcher for fantasy purposes.--John Smith
