Devin Williams Saves Seventh Game
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Devin Williams inherited at least an increased share of the closer role when Josh Hader was dealt to the San Diego Padres, and he locked down his seventh game against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, striking out both batters he faced. Williams has pitched in three consecutive games since being promoted, and each of his last two outings have been much more steady than his first opportunity since the trade deadline when he was charged with a blown save. He now has a 1.74 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 68 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings this year and should be rostered in all formats.
